Immersive Viking City (Cité Immersive Viking)

The venue is built in Hangar 105 on the banks of the Seine River - the very same waterway that Viking longships navigated over 1,000 years ago when they raided and eventually settled in Normandy. This poetic location creates a powerful connection between the immersive experience and the actual historical events that shaped the region.

Rollo, the Viking chief featured in the experience, became the ancestor of one of history's most famous conquerors. His great-great-great-grandson was none other than William the Conqueror, who invaded England in 1066 and became its king. This means the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte in 911 AD, which visitors experience in the attraction, ultimately led to the Norman Conquest of England.

The attraction uses groundbreaking technology including 360-degree video mapping that covers entire rooms, 3D spatialized sound that makes visitors feel surrounded by Viking battles and Gregorian chants, and monumental sets that took artisans months to construct. The final 25-minute immersive show is considered one of the most technologically advanced cultural experiences in France.

The Cite Immersive Viking was the first permanent venue of the Cites Immersives network when it opened in June 2024, and within months it received the prestigious national Destination of Excellence label - an award given to only the most innovative and high-quality cultural tourism sites in France, recognizing its unique approach to making history accessible and engaging.
