From War to Peace in Maisy
Quick Facts
This half-day itinerary takes you from a hidden WWII German artillery position to an international peace memorial. Begin at the Maisy Battery, a vast complex of trenches and bunkers buried for 60 years until its discovery in 2004. Explore over 3 km of original fortifications, then conclude at the World Peace Statue, a striking 10-meter sculpture unveiled for the 60th anniversary of D-Day. The route is available from April to September when the battery is open. Bring a flashlight and sturdy shoes for the battery tunnels.
