Historic Longues-sur-Mer in one day
Quick Facts
This half-day itinerary combines two historical gems of Longues-sur-Mer: a preserved WWII German coastal battery and a 12th-century Benedictine abbey. The battery features four original 150mm naval guns in concrete casemates—the only D-Day site where the original armament remains in place. The abbey contains Normandy's largest collection of medieval glazed tiles and rare 14th-century murals. Note: The abbey is open only from June to mid-September, Tuesday through Saturday. The battery is an open-air site accessible year-round with free entry.
